Take Eat Easy turns the barcode on a packet into a full nutrition breakdown in less than a second. Scan barcodes, skip the maths & log foods instantly.
Point your camera at a packaged food or drink. The app finds the product, converts the nutrition to the pack or portion the product actually comes in, and logs it to your diary. Long gone are the days of doing maths inside the supermarket!
WHAT TAKE EAT EASY DOES
• Barcode scanning — EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and UPC-E, read on your device
• Real portions — figures converted to the pack or serving in front of you, not an abstract 100g
• Calories and macros — protein, carbs, sugar, fat, saturates and salt
• Traffic lights — the red, amber and green bands used on front-of-pack labels in the UK
• High-in warnings — flags a product that is high in sugar, salt, fat or saturates
• Dietary flags — switch on vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, halal, kosher, gluten free, dairy free or nut free, and see conflicts on the product card
• Search by name — for loose items and anything without a barcode to hand
• Your own foods — add whatever the database has not got
• Daily goals — set calorie and macro targets, or work them out from your height, weight, age and activity level
• Progress — daily totals and weekly trends
FREE AND PREMIUM
The free version includes 20 product lookups a day, and everything else is unlimited. Premium removes the lookup limit and is sold as a monthly or annual subscription through Google Play. You can cancel any time in Play.
ABOUT THE DATA
Product information comes from Open Food Facts, an open database contributed to by members of the public rather than by manufacturers. Coverage of UK supermarket products is broad but not complete, and an entry can be out of date or wrong. The app runs its own consistency checks and marks records that look unreliable.
The packaging is always the authority. Read it before you eat something, particularly where allergens matter. Dietary flags are a convenience built on third-party data, not a certification, and should not be relied on where an ingredient matters to your health or your beliefs.
NOT MEDICAL ADVICE
Take Eat Easy is a record-keeping tool, not a medical device. Targets are general estimates from a standard formula and take no account of your medical history, medication, pregnancy or any condition you may have. Speak to a doctor or a registered dietitian before making significant changes to your diet.
