About this game

Burst one cell and the whole board can turn. No dice, no card draws, nothing hidden.

TakeTheVirus is a turn-based strategy game where every cell you grow is a fuse. Push it past its limit and it bursts: it throws a charge into each neighboring cell, claims empty ground and overruns weaker enemies, which can burst in turn. One move in the right place flips half the board. One move in the wrong place hands it over.

WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT
• Win or lose on your own decisions, never on a dice roll
• Find out exactly where the match turned, free after every game
• Play anywhere: no account, no signal, no waiting between matches
• Take five minutes over a match, or an hour over a single move
• Learn every rule by using it, not by reading a manual

THREE WAYS TO WIN
• Claim half the board
• Be the last strain alive
• Hold the most cells when the board fills up

THE RULE THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
• An overloaded cell does not go off at once
• It arms itself, pulses, and detonates at the start of your next turn
• Your opponent gets one full turn to defuse it, dig in, or build a bigger threat
• Every danger sits in plain view for both players, like a piece under attack in chess

Nothing is hidden and nothing is random. This is a strategy game where the only thing you can blame is the move you just made. If you play chess, draughts, Reversi or Hex, you already know how to think here.

FIVE TOOLS, ALL COUNTED
• Rank 1, 2 and 3: place, grow, capture
• Wall: permanent ground that takes your color and stays yours to the last turn
• Antibody: defuse an armed cell before it fires, theirs or your own
• Move: shift a Rank 1 cell one square to take the ground that matters

Your reserve refills as the turns go by, and the strong tokens come back slowest. Holding them costs you tempo. Spending them leaves you open. Deciding when is the game.

A 500-LEVEL CAMPAIGN
• Starts one against one, then two opponents at once
• Ends with three enemies fighting you and each other
• Bigger boards, more in the way, and a boss every 25 levels
• Twenty bosses in all

A NEW BOARD EVERY DAY
• One Daily Challenge, the same board for everyone, built from the date
• One try, and a streak the game keeps for you
• An optional reminder you can switch off in Settings

SEE WHERE IT TURNED
• Match review walks back through the game move by move
• Where you were ahead, and the exact move the match turned on
• Which of your own moves was the strongest
• Free, after every game

48 MEDALS TO COLLECT
• Many of them secret, so there is always one more to find
• Personal statistics: matches, wins, streaks, bosses, chains

ALSO INSIDE
• Skirmish: you set everything, grid size, up to four players, human or AI, four difficulty levels
• Level Editor: draw your own boards, save them, swap them with anyone as a code
• Save backup: carry your progress to a new phone
• A tutorial that teaches every rule by making you use it
• 22 languages, taken from your phone

If you are looking for an abstract strategy game with the depth of a board game and none of the luck, this is it.

No account. No paywall. No timer between matches. Works offline.
Burst one cell, flip the board. A turn-based strategy game of chain reactions.

What’s new

Fixes:

• Removed a Google Play Games component that started on its own when the game opened although it was not in use: no more automatic Play Games sign-in, and a crash tied to that component on some phones is fixed
• No changes to gameplay, saves or permissions
