Learning mental arithmetic can be effective and fun!
TEAN offers you the following didactical approach:
- the four base operations of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with problem classes used by the Swiss public school system* (see https://portail.ciip.ch/per/disciplines/5 - MSN 13 and MSN23)
- each operation has 8 levels of increasing difficulty adapted to the age of the user
- research *(see https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11943480/) has shown that writing the result of the operation with your hand or finger instead of typing it in provides you with superior learning and memory retention.
- a streak of 10 good answers within a certain time provides you with an award
- awards can be used to unlock additional levels
- the user activity in the different levels can be tracked easily
- the user progress in learning mental arithmetic is tracked by an 8-level score symbolized with ocean icons and calculated from the awards earned at the different levels.
