Healthivity is a companion app for participants who are enrolled in a clinical research study.
HOW IT WORKS
You can only use Healthivity if a research site has invited you to a study and given you an invitation code. After you join with that code, the app shows the questionnaires and the follow-up tasks defined by the research team for your study.
WHAT DATA THE APP READS
Healthivity reads only two health data types through Health Connect, and only if you grant permission:
- Daily step count, to let researchers study your physical activity habits during the study.
- Heart rate, as a physiological variable of the study dataset.
Reading step count on Android also requires the physical activity permission, so the app asks for it before it can read your steps. No other health data type is requested.
YOU DECIDE WHAT IS SENT
Before any information leaves your phone, Healthivity shows you exactly what will be sent: the list of variables and the charts built from them. You can exclude any variable you do not want to share, and you can revoke the Health Connect permissions at any time from Android settings. If you revoke them, the app keeps working for questionnaires and the rest of the study tasks.
WHAT HEALTHIVITY IS NOT
Healthivity does not provide any diagnosis, treatment, medical advice or emergency service, and it is not a substitute for professional medical care. It does not replace the instructions of the research team or of your doctor.
PRIVACY
Health data is used only for the study you joined. It is never used for advertising, never used for commercial profiling and never sold to third parties. Only the authorized researchers of your study can see the data you choose to send.
If you have questions about your study, please contact the research site that gave you your invitation code.
