Ridiculously awkward to connect device to app - gave up after 20 minutes. Every time I finally managed to connect to its hotspot network, I would go back to the app and then it would disconnect and revert to my home network before I could link the device. I didn't have high hopes for an app for a carpet cleaner to begin with, and the awkwardness and failure of setup sealed the deal.

Someone mentioned that they can't see anything more than their calendar. I knew I had seen more information, but when just opening the app, it's not there. If you're vacuum is offline (so no green dot in the app), you'll only be able to see the calender and the usage information. When the vacuum is online (green dot), you can see battery and reset the cleaning information. You can also still see your logged cleanings. Does the app look super high tech? No. Does it show what it needs? Sure.

The reviews on this app is ridiculous. I can tell you the reason it asks for permissions: it needs to access your WiFi and camera to scan a barcode on your vacuum to add it. Most apps need permissions. And you aren't safe from anything with a smart phone or internet. Anyways, the app is simple! Setup was super easy for me. Seems you need the app open when vacuuming for it to register activity, but this is a small issue. Overall, very happy with Tineco so far. The perks are nice!
