About this game

Race for the Galaxy is a strategy boardgame where players advance their empire by playing cards to build technological developments or to settle planets. Its core mechanic is a phase choosing game. Players secretly and simultaneously determine which one of seven phases they will lock in, all reveal at once, then execute the phases in order. Will you build an engine to ramp up VP generation on cheapo production planets? Will you invest in exploration and settle rare and valuable VP rich planets? Or will you rush a military conquest to cut off your opponents before they have a chance to develop their strategy.

Ratings and reviews

Implementation of the card game is excellent. Game flow works well, great that you can always have a counter on opponents VPs. AI is challenging in hard mode. Have played vs AI almost flawlessly for years, but recently something seems to have broken. I'm now getting repeated crashes, which took a full reinstall to resolve, forcing the loss of thousands of games in my log. Plus just found a bug: AI is given a VP bonus at the start of round even though it has less prestige than me.

Can we get an update?I love this App and game and play it wayyyy to much. However it's become so glitchy and now crashes all the time for me and my friends. I'm only writing a review to bring up this issue with the hope that they'll fix it. Don't change anything else, please just make it playable. TIP: when playing AI the app runs better when you go to Play Online and then check "Go Offline"

This is really a rather nice port of RftG when you want to play a few rounds but don't want to bother getting a group together (even online). Deducted a star for the following: -No 4th/5th expansions (the description fails to mention you can buy Brink of War) -The lack of support for 2 years -I wish the game had widescreen -The AI can be slow sometimes (but that's fine, really) If you are okay with getting a premium subscription, BoardGameArena's adaptation of the game is way more complete.
