Powered by Cornell University’s BirdNET AI, Terra automatically identifies over 6000 species from their songs and calls. New detections stream onto your phone in real time from your Terra Station. Tap any bird to hear the sound clip, view the spectrogram, and review.

The world map shows every Terra Station and lets you view whats singing in anyone’s backyard with a tap. Watch live bird-ID flashes ripple across continents. Migration Watch overlays a world map of all detections of a specific species for the last 24 hours.

Ratings and reviews

I'm here to tell you how much better the app is after their April 2026 overhaul. SO MUCH BETTER! You can navigate to another app and it still plays in the background. No more "error starting playback" messages. It tells you the percent likelihood that the bird they are suggesting is correct. You can listen to the recording and decide for yourself. Sigh of relief here.

The app lets down an otherwise awesome product. I have abandoned the app to simply listen on the browser. I get constant playback errors or failure to even "see" my device with the app, and then go on my browser and can listen with no problem. That don't make no kind o' sense. I would recommend the device to tons of people. I hope that it gets a big overhaul and gets up to the quality of the hardware. tech support over email has been generally useful.

Broke within 3 days. The screen flickers and says 'Playback Error' no matter what I do (on either the app or with the device). The auto ID results should be taken with a grain of salt. Don't get me wrong, all auto ID software programs have limited accuracy (just like people) and will, given enough time, ID every possible species regardless of actual presence. But I was amused by the many wild IDs it generated within a single day (while it still worked). Because it is new, I'll give it 3 stars
