About this app

TextHook is a device automation tool for incoming text messages and, with Pro, app notifications. You set the trigger, TextHook performs the action. It is for forwarding your own messages, from your own device.

An automation in TextHook is a single rule: when an incoming SMS or notification matches conditions you defined, it will automatically send it to a destination you chose. Nothing runs until you create that rule, and nothing is forwarded that your rule did not match.

How an automation works

1. Add a destination: a webhook URL, Discord channel, Telegram chat, or email address you enter yourself.
2. Add a rule. The incoming message is the trigger: match on sender (number or contact name) and on content (contains / starts with / ends with).

That's the whole automation. From then on all matching notifications or received SMS fire it automatically. Non-matching are ignored and never leave your device.

Example automations people build: push bank or delivery alerts into a Telegram chat, forward on-call texts into a Slack workspace, or POST to your own server to kick off something downstream.

Why TextHook needs SMS access: The incoming message is the trigger. TextHook has to see a text arrive in order to test it against your rule, which is why it asks for SMS access on first run. It reads incoming messages only. It does not read your message history, sent messages or drafts, does not send texts, and is not your default SMS app. Without this permission TextHook cannot run any automation at all, and the app says so until you grant it. The same goes for notifications. You need to approve the monitoring of every individual app you want to forward notifications for.

You stay in control

• Every trigger and every destination is one you created. TextHook ships with none
• An activity log shows each automation that fired, what matched it, and whether the send succeeded
• Turn any rule off without deleting it
• One tap wipes everything: Settings → Delete all data

Private by design

• No servers and no account. Your messages are never sent to us
• No analytics, no crash trackers, no ads, no advertising ID
• Custom header values are encrypted on-device (AES-256-GCM via the Android Keystore), and the app keeps no off-device backups
• Every send uses HTTPS; cleartext HTTP is blocked
• Optional biometric app lock

Free vs Pro

Free includes 1 rule, 1 webhook, POST forwarding, and a 7-day activity log. Enough to build and run a complete automation end to end. Pro is a one-time $4.99 unlock (no subscription): unlimited rules and destinations, all HTTP methods, custom request headers, notification triggers, up to 90-day history, and the message-template editor for shaping the payload into the exact format your endpoint expects.

Permissions
• SMS (receive only): the trigger source. TextHook must see an incoming message to test it against your rule. Requested on first run, and available any time from Settings → Permissions
• Contacts (optional): only if you build a rule that triggers on a contact name; requested at that moment, never at startup
• Notifications: the ongoing notice that TextHook is active
• Notification access (optional, Pro): only if you turn on notification triggers, and only for the apps you pick. Off by default, revocable any time

TextHook is for forwarding your own messages, from your own device.

What’s new

Fixed: retrying a failed forward now updates that entry in place — it shows the new result and the Retry button disappears once the message goes through.
Retry now shows a "Retrying…" state while it works, and always reports the outcome.
A retry that finishes after you leave the Activity tab is no longer discarded.
