Review from Michael Whitehead
Excellent! I live in an area where I can only get signals in really weird places in my house, and this app allows me to leave my phone there, and take my laptop around! It really is incredibly useful and a must have!
Great app! Working behind a PC all day, this app is great for sending texts without picking up my phone. Also, unlike pushbullet, you CAN send group texts from MightyText on a PC. Make sure you don't have power save or start up limiting apps on your phone or you will lose sync with Chrome. UPDATE: taking one star back since they are enforcing a monthly message limit now.
Fantastic app - makes life so much easier to be able to type out texts on a computer keyboard! (using with Win7) One star deducted because using the suggested GIFs/images/custom MightyText emojis does NOT work (TMobile texting). Images are NOT inserted into texts, only a web URL that has to be clicked. If MightyText could fix that problem, it would be perfect! There are some bugs, but for free this is great (group texts show as multiple texts, for example)
I love it. I send texts from my computer now mostly. Why use a constricting phone keyboard when you have access to the full PC keyboard. I love that they have giphy plugged in. Only issue I have with the giphy part is that the recipient has to click a link to see it. Nowadays nobody has the patience for that, so it is not of much use. I usually go to giphy and manually send it. My suggestion is to include the giphy inside the text itself and put in the PRO version. It would be a really good add-on feature for the PRO version.
Extremely useful This is the answer to iMessage I've been looking for. The ability to sync to my nexus tablet and chrome browser is super helpful. I don't have the pro version, but the basic does the job I need. Being able to text from my tablet in a different room, to anyone, is awesome. And if I forget my phone at home, I'm not cut off from the world. Love it.
The basic functionality -- getting notified about texts on the PC desktop -- is OK. Windows 10 users (and probably Win8) will have to fuss with setting to avoid getting notified twice (through both interfaces). Overall, A for idea and B+ for implementation and interface. (Review amended 8/24/16: Original review included "The text size in the PC window cannot be changed, and appears very large, so a functional windows must be much larger than it should have to be; this needs to be fixed for maximum functionality." ... but I had missed a setting. Developer response was quick and helpful.) I'd give it 4.5 stars if possible. Once it's configured, it's straightforward and useful.
MightyText works properly for me only about 50% of the time, and I paid for the "Pro" version. Messages do not want to be sent from my MacBook all the time (coincidentally with important messages), 2) I have yet to receive a single MMS on my MacBook. Have followed all steps for troubleshooting, and reinstalled; still it's spotty at best; seems to work when it wants to. Maybe the free version works better; I would not recommend paying for the Pro version. Bottom line is, it needs to work all the time if you utilize it for business communication. That's what I get for NOT wanting to use an iPhone; LOVE my MacBook but I'll not try an iPhone until they come up with one thats revolutionary.
