I'm a long time user of TheChive and absolutely love it. The amount of laughs and random knowledge I've picked up from the articles is almost incalculable. With that being said-- The app has been misbehaving more and more to the point that I get redirected to a malware site every 15-30 seconds. Again, I love the content, and the company, but I just don't feel like I can safely use the app anymore.
Now with annoying ads that have high pitched beeps! Ads are everywhere they even double up on ads. Want to look at a gallery post? Here 2 pics then an ad. Every other post is an ad. Ads occupy the bottom portiion of the screen when looking at images. What to go back and view a different post? Gotta load this full screen ad first. Ads everywhere. Literally garbage now.
Used to be alot better, now videos don't play at all and for some reason if a gif is last in a post it won't play either. images getting alot more repeats and cross posting in multiple galleries. Has theChive jumped the shark?
Popup, popup, popup, popup...ohh no, my Android phone has a virus! Must be, that's what that popup said whenever I'm browsing Chive. No other app I have gives me that popup, except the Chive app. Popup when going back to the main page. And more popups when simply scrolling through the pictures. I also love the fact that I am forced to watch a 30-second ad for a 20-second video. This app is cancer!
Have to say goodbye to the chive. All the redirects saying I have a virus is annoying. I'm sure the powers that be at the chive are aware of this but they have been silent on the issue. Seems like all they care about is making money!
When the app works, doesn't crash constantly or redirect you to adds it's fine. With the app being unreliable fairly often it can be difficult to use. The content is the same as the website and the website doesn't have these same problems so is recommend you just favorite the site and avoid this app until it gets "fixed"
Just a quick bug fix - nothing to see here. Move along
