About this app

Thelemail is private, encrypted email for families and teams. You get a real mailbox on your own @thelemail.com address, or on a domain you already own.
Owning your email shouldn't mean babysitting a mail server. It also shouldn't mean handing your inbox to a provider that reads it to sell ads or train AI. Thelemail sits in between. It does what email should do, and leaves out the parts you never wanted.
Encrypted by design
Your mail is end-to-end encrypted between Thelemail accounts, and we only ever store scrambled text we can't open. Writing to the outside world? If your recipient publishes a public key, we encrypt to them automatically over standard OpenPGP. No key, no problem: it sends as regular email, so you can reach anyone. And your whole mailbox is locked to your password, so your mail stays yours.
No ads, no training
We never scan your mail to sell ads, and we never feed it to AI. Your mail is stored and processed in the EU.
Delivery that actually lands
We run the sending infrastructure and watch our reputation, so your mail reaches inboxes instead of spam folders. That's the tedious part of running email, and we handle it for you.
Made for families and teams
Everyone gets their own private mailbox with nothing to set up. Share aliases for the things you run together, like bills, schools, and subscriptions. Spin up a fresh alias for every service you sign up for, all landing in whichever mailbox you pick.
Bring your own domain
Optional. Put your whole family or team on a domain you own, or just use your @thelemail.com address, which works right away.
Straight about the limits
Envelope data, meaning who emails whom and when, is still visible. That's how email works everywhere, and we won't pretend otherwise. The encryption is standard and well understood, and we describe it plainly instead of dressing it up.
