About this game

TimeGuessr is the game that challenges both your geography and history knowledge in one addictive experience. Using real historical photographs from around the world, your task is simple: guess when and where each photo was taken.

Think you know your 1960s from your 1980s? Can you tell Paris from Prague just by a grainy street scene? Whether you're a casual player or a history buff, TimeGuessr will put your deduction skills to the test.

Each photo is carefully selected, showcasing moments that span continents and centuries. Place a pin on the map to guess the location, choose the year, and see how close you were. The closer your guess, the more points you earn.

New photos are added daily through the popular daily game mode. You can also challenge your friends, compare your progress on the leaderboard, and even create your own shareable rounds.

TimeGuessr is more than just a guessing game — it's a journey through time and place, blending curiosity, memory, and discovery in a way that keeps you coming back for more.

Ratings and reviews

The photo/map switch button needs to be made stationary or at least require press and hold to start moving it. Switching between is *incredibly* annoying and feels like a mini-game in itself (one that doesn't award any pts...!) because you have to tap it, without moving it, when it moves *as soon as* you touch it... Other than that, it's a good app. Too bad.

I love the game, but there are a few issues. When I share a link with my friends there is no way to open or import it in the app, so anyone who joins has to play in the browser. Also the breakdown screen map is often bugged so it's hard to zoom in.

Great game. Me and my friends are going crazy about it. A few suggestions. 1) can you allow to see the pictures again with the solutions? the breakdown option is too limited. 2) can you make it easier to manage friends? at the moment you can only do it after you do your daily test. 3) how about a bit of history of the performance, ie. past results, average score etc. it would make it a bit more fun
