Tickstave is a metronome app for daily practice: a steady click from 20 to 300 BPM, tap tempo, accents and a tempo trainer, with every session added to your practice log. No account, no microphone, no camera.
A STEADY CLICK YOU CAN READ FROM YOUR STAND
The tempo sits in big numbers with its Italian name and a plain word next to it (Andante, steady walking pace). Change it with −1 and +1, −5 and +5, or slide from Slow to Fast. One large button starts and stops the click, and the screen stays on while it plays. Pick a click sound: woodblock, classic click, beep or cowbell.
TAP TEMPO
Tap the screen 4 times along with a song and Tickstave sets the tempo from the average of your taps.
BEATS, ACCENTS AND SUBDIVISIONS
Pick a time signature: 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4 and 6/8 up front, more such as 7/8 and 12/8 one swipe away. Each beat is a bar on the screen: tall for an accent, short for a normal beat, dashed for a silent one. Add eighths, triplets or sixteenths. Turn on a vibration on beat 1 for loud rooms and drums, or a screen flash you can see from across the room.
TEMPO TRAINER
Start slow, set a goal and let the tempo climb: for example from 80 to 120 BPM, +4 every 8 bars. Hold tempo stays on the current speed until you are ready.
PRACTICE LOG
Play for a minute or more and the session is saved by itself: the date, how long you played, the song and the tempo. See minutes per day, this week's total, your streak of practice days and how the tempo of each song has grown, for example Für Elise from 72 to 84 BPM. An optional daily reminder at the time you choose helps keep the streak going.
SONG LISTS
Save a song with its tempo, beats, subdivision and trainer, then load it all with one tap. Keep a list for each instrument, lesson or band set.
BLUETOOTH TIMING
Bluetooth headphones and speakers add a short delay. Tap along with 8 clicks and Tickstave measures it, then plays every click that much earlier. The delay is saved for each pair of headphones; the phone speaker stays at 0 ms.
FOR GUITAR, PIANO, DRUMS AND MORE
Use it as a metronome for guitar, piano, violin, bass or voice, as a drum metronome in a loud room, or as a practice timer for lessons. Dark stage mode keeps the screen calm on a dim stage.
FREE AND PRO
Free: every tempo, tap tempo, accents, subdivisions (swing is Pro), the tempo trainer, Bluetooth timing, 3 song lists and the last 7 days of your practice log. Older sessions are never deleted: they stay on your phone and open again with Pro. Tickstave Pro (yearly with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, monthly, or one lifetime payment) adds polyrhythm and swing, 8 drum patterns to play along with, unlimited song lists, your whole practice history with CSV export, a streak widget for your home screen, and no ads. The price and the first charge date are shown before you pay, and you can cancel anytime in Google Play. You can also try Pro for 24 hours by watching 2 short videos, once a day.
ADS NEVER COVER THE CLICK
The free version shows a small banner at the top of the metronome screen and in the practice log. No full-screen ad appears while the click is playing. One may appear after you finish a practice session of 5 minutes or more, at most once every 5 minutes.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account and no sign-in. Your sessions and song lists are saved on this phone and never sent to us. Tickstave does not use the microphone, the camera or your location. Permissions: vibration for the beat 1 buzz, notifications for the optional practice reminder and, if you start the free trial, one reminder 2 days before it ends, start at boot so reminders return after a restart, plus the network, advertising ID and billing permissions of Google's ad and purchase libraries. Internet is used for ads, purchases, crash reports and a small settings file from tinyfair.my.id.
