Spin the dreidel, win the gelt! Dreidel is a warm, beautiful version of the classic Hanukkah spinning game, made for the whole family around one phone.
FLICK TO SPIN
Swipe or flick the dreidel with your finger, or just tap it. It spins with a real feeling: it wobbles, slows down, tips over and lands on Nun, Gimel, Hei or Shin, with the Hebrew letter shown big and clear. Every side has exactly the same chance.
PASS AND PLAY, 2 TO 8 PLAYERS
Add everyone's name and play on the same phone. The app keeps score for you: a shared pot of virtual gelt (chocolate coins), everyone adds the ante, and each spin moves the gelt:
- Nun: nothing happens
- Gimel: take the whole pot
- Hei: take half the pot
- Shin: put one gelt in
A player with no gelt is out, and the last player in wins, with a little celebration.
YOUR HOUSE RULES
Every family plays a bit differently, so you can choose:
- Starting gelt: 5, 10, 15 or 20
- Ante: 1, 2 or 3
- Hei with an odd pot: round up or round down
- Israeli dreidel: use Pe instead of Shin
HOW TO PLAY AND A LITTLE TRADITION
A short "How to play" page explains the rules in a minute, with a respectful note on the Hanukkah tradition behind the game. The home screen also shows which night of Hanukkah it is tonight and how many candles to light.
NO REAL MONEY
All gelt in Dreidel is virtual. There is no betting, no real-money prizes and nothing to buy to play.
