Will school be closed tomorrow? SnowCall gives you the odds of a snow day for your ZIP or postal code, built from the official weather forecast, and it tells you exactly why.
Type a ZIP code or a Canadian postal code (or use your location while the app is open) and get a clear percentage for tomorrow morning: "82% chance of a snow day, because about 6 in of snow is expected before 7 am and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect." No accounts, no sign-ups.
WHAT SNOWCALL LOOKS AT
- Snow expected overnight, weighted by when it falls: snow in the early morning counts more than snow from the evening before
- Ice and freezing rain, which close schools faster than snow
- Temperature and wind chill ("feels like") for the morning commute
- Wind gusts and how hard the snow falls
- Official winter alerts from the National Weather Service (Winter Storm Warning, Ice Storm Warning, Blizzard Warning, Wind Chill Warning and more) and from Environment Canada
- Your region: districts in the South close with much less snow than districts in the North, so the same forecast gives different odds in Atlanta and in Minneapolis
FEATURES
- Odds for the next school mornings, skipping weekends
- A plain-language explanation of every number, plus the hour-by-hour snow chart
- Save up to 5 places: home, school, grandparents
- Optional alert around 7:30 pm the night before, when the odds reach the level you choose
- Share the result as a card with your class, team or family group chat
- Inches and Fahrenheit in the U.S., centimetres and Celsius in Canada (you can switch)
- Works with ZIP codes and postal codes only: location is optional and only used while the app is open
HONEST BY DESIGN
SnowCall is an estimate for fun and planning, not an official announcement. Only your school or district decides. The app always says so next to the result, and it says when the forecast is too far out to trust.
FREE WITH LIGHT ADS
SnowCall is free with a banner and an occasional ad when you switch places or days. A one-time "Remove ads" purchase removes them for good. No subscription.
DATA
Forecasts and alerts come from the U.S. National Weather Service and Environment and Climate Change Canada. SnowCall is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency, weather service, school or school district.
