About this app

Calculating weld heat input starts with the same math every time: voltage, current, travel speed, and efficiency. Welding Heat Input turns those numbers into an instant kJ/mm or kJ/in result — no more running the AWS D1.1 formula by hand between passes.

HOW IT WORKS
Pick your process — MIG, TIG, Stick, or FCAW — and the app fills in a reference efficiency value. Enter voltage, current, and travel speed, and heat input updates instantly as you adjust any input.

WHAT YOU GET
- Instant heat input: net heat input in kJ/mm and kJ/in, calculated using the AWS D1.1 Annex I formula
- Process-based efficiency presets: reference values for MIG, TIG, Stick, and FCAW that you can override
- Editable efficiency: reset to the process default anytime with one tap
- Recent calculations: Save up to 10 calculations locally and reload them for a new pass
- Works offline: the calculation needs no internet connection, no account, no sign-up

Recommended For
- Welders checking heat input between passes on site
- Welding inspectors verifying settings against a WPS
- Welding students learning how voltage, current, and travel speed affect heat input

Efficiency values in this app are AWS D1.1 Annex I reference presets only — always confirm against your Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and equipment manufacturer data before welding. This app does not replace a WPS, qualification testing, or a certified welding inspector.
