About this app

Tradie Toolbox puts practical job-site tools on your Android phone — spirit level, angles, noise and magnetic detection, motion readouts, and calculators so you can measure and mark layouts without digging through the van for another gadget.

Measuring & layout
Spirit level — Use your device like a bubble level on flat surfaces so you can check horizontal and vertical in seconds.

Angle finder — Read tilt and inclination for cuts, ramps, handrails and rooflines when you need a quick angle without a separate inclinometer.

Room measure (AR) — Walk through a measured room layout in augmented reality to mark floor corners and height, then get floor area (square metres) and perimeter for quotes, flooring and ordering materials. Works best on supported devices with ARCore and a compatible browser where AR is available.

Altimeter — Altitude from barometer and/or GPS for site levels and outdoor checks.

Speedometer — Speed from GPS when you need a simple speed readout on site or on the road.

Panelling & spindle spacing calculator
Stop guessing gaps on long runs of trim or balustrades.

Panelling mode — Enter your wall or run length, each upright width, and how many uprights you’re using (including one at each end). The app works out the equal clear gap between each pair of uprights so boards or frames line up evenly along the wall.

Spindle mode — Enter the handrail run between newels, spindle width, and how many spindles. The calculator finds equal spacing between spindles and from each newel to the nearest spindle for a symmetric layout. If you’re on a pitched stair, add the rise angle so the effective run length is adjusted along the slope.

Units are flexible (e.g. mm / cm / m) so you can match your tape and supplier specs.
