About this app

The Kansas City Scout Traffic app provides commuters and travelers with mobile access to information for Kansas City metro area roadways from the Kansas City Scout's of Transportation's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The available information includes:

1) A zoomable, scrollable map-based display
2) Current traffic conditions on Kansas City metro area’s freeways and major surface streets
3) Lists of accidents, road construction activities, and other hazards
4) Special events that affect traffic (sports events, etc.)
5) Closed-circuit television (CCTV) traffic camera images
6) Electronic roadway sign messages

Ratings and reviews

This was a decent app for local traffic issues, but it seems to be going downhill. With the most recent update, they removed the option to bring the video up fullscreen, which is crucial - you often can't tell what's going on otherwise. I keep my phone locked in Portrait mode, so it's a totally unnecessary hassle to turn that on just for one DOWNGRADED app. Update: On 12/17/25, the app quit working on Android, and of course, no contact info for support.

The overhaul done a few months ago is worse than the old app. Incidents are constantly in the wrong location on the map and the map view always resets when you open the app. There's now so much wasted space due to the fixed toolbars that do nothing for you 95% of the time despite Locations being duplicated in Settings.

Used to love this app. Now I can't get it to work at all this past week. I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times hoping that would fix it. Map displays but with no camera icons anymore. The "incident" tab perpetually says it's "loading". What is happening?
