⚠️ IF THE SOUND DOESN'T CHANGE !!!
Two different things can cause this, and the app tells you which one you have.

On Android TV it is almost always the surround sound output setting. When the TV passes audio through as Dolby Digital or DTS (often shown as "Auto"), the sound is never decoded on the device itself, so no app on Android can apply an equalizer to it. Set Settings > Display & Sound > Advanced sound settings > Surround sound to None, Stereo or PCM. The wording varies between devices, so on some models it sits under Settings > System > Sound instead.

On some phones with custom audio systems, Android restricts apps from controlling system-wide audio effects, and the equalizer may have reduced or no effect. The app shows a clear warning when this is the case on your device.
