Beyond the cargo frame toppled by a sudden gust, the stone materials needed to restore the “Seat of the Sun” lay scattered from the foot to the mid-slope of Machu Picchu before dawn. Entrusted with the restoration, I follow the bluish path in the dim early light, gathering support stones and edging stones as I climb, restoring the summit pedestal to its original form before sunrise. When the final piece falls into place, this morning will be more than just another dawn.
