A focus timer for people who do not feel time passing.
It combines some of the most researched techniques and tools for time management and procrastination in a very minimal tool. It also uses almost every trick in the book used by the things that distract you, to actually help you focus.
START BY WINDING
Press and hold the hourglass for two and a half seconds, then let go. Holding it gives your decision weight, and by the time you let go you have already begun. It is built on the research into why starting is the hard part.
FOCUS IN SETS OF FOUR
• Every session is twenty five minutes, with a five minute break after it and a long break after four sessions. Untimer holds the lengths, so you open the app and start.
• Name a task and guess how many sessions it will take. The task card shows how many it took.
• A bell sounds when a session ends, on time with the phone asleep in your bag.
STAY ON TRACK WHEN YOU LEAVE THE APP
• The countdown shows in a notification and on the lock screen, with your task under it.
• Tap Interruption when something pulls you away and write one line about it. Untimer shows that line when you come back, so you pick the work up where you left off.
SEE WHAT YOU DID
• The day strip shows today from midnight to midnight, with each session at the time it ran.
• Insights lists the days you used Untimer with one small hourglass for each session, and counts how many of the last forty five days had one.
• Fifty four milestones in four groups mark what you reach.
ON YOUR PHONE AND IN YOUR BROWSER
Untimer runs on this phone and in a browser at app.untimer.com, on one account. Start a session at your desk and it is there when you pick up your phone.
FREE TO USE
The timer and your sessions are free. So are the Days panel, every milestone you reach and the export of everything you recorded. Untimer Plus adds more panels to Insights. They show your sessions by task, hour and weekday. They also show your totals, your best days and the whole year at a glance.
