About this app

Sakinah gives you the five daily prayers, the Qibla, a tasbeeh counter and the Islamic calendar —
calculated on your own phone, with no account and nothing sent anywhere.

WHY THIS ONE
Most prayer apps get the astronomy right and the rest wrong. Ads land on top of the adhan. Times are
off and nobody tells you why. Alerts go quiet for a week because the phone decided the app was using
too much battery. Sakinah is built around those three complaints.

PRAYER TIMES THAT MATCH YOUR MOSQUE
• Choose from every widely used calculation method — Muslim World League, ISNA, Umm al-Qura,
Karachi, Egyptian General Authority, Diyanet, Tehran, and more
• Standard or Hanafi Asr, as a plain switch
• A high-latitude rule for the long northern summers, when twilight never really ends
• Every setting says in plain words what it changes, so a time that differs from your mosque is
something you can fix rather than guess at
• Times are worked out for where you are, in that place's own timezone — travel with your phone's
clock on the wrong country and the schedule still reads correctly

QIBLA, FOUR WAYS
• A live compass pointing to the Kaaba, with the Kaaba itself as the marker
• Four dial designs — minimal, compass rose, mihrab arch, and a girih star
• Tells you when the compass needs calibrating instead of quietly showing you the wrong direction
• Falls back to a fixed bearing on phones with no compass sensor, rather than pretending

TASBEEH THAT REMEMBERS
• A count per dhikr, so moving between SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah and Allahu Akbar never loses your
place
• Add your own phrases, and your own target counts alongside 33, 100 and 500
• Reset clears only the dhikr you are on
• Haptic feedback on every bead, so you can count without looking

THE ISLAMIC CALENDAR
• Today's Hijri date, and the months ahead
• Ramadan, the two Eids, Ashura, Mawlid, Laylat al-Qadr, the Day of Arafah and more, with a
countdown to each
• Dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar, with a ±1 day adjustment for communities that go by a local
moon sighting

MADE TO LOOK AT
Four visual templates — Nur, Waha, Sakura and Layl — each in light and dark. The home screen's
backdrop shifts with the time of day, so it reads as dawn at Fajr and dusk at Maghrib.

WORKS WITHOUT A SIGNAL
Prayer times, the Qibla and the Hijri date are all calculated on the device. No account, no sign-in,
and no connection needed for any of it. Your location is used to work out your times and is never
sent to us, because there is no server to send it to.
