VELA is a low-power e-paper desk display that works with this free app. It shows one useful thing at a time, updates itself, and never asks you to unlock your phone.

[ANYWHERE]
• Clock — digital, analogue, or a four-city world clock
• Weather — forecast for anywhere in the world, with Hong Kong Observatory warnings at home
• Emergency phone — one important number, full screen
• Calendar — a tear-off daily leaf with the lunar date, today's events from your phone's calendar, and the day's 宜/忌 from the Chinese almanac if you want it. Events reach VELA over Bluetooth only, never through a server

[REMINDERS — NO NETWORK NEEDED]
• Medication and injections — a weekly schedule; VELA sounds an alarm, shows what is due, and you press a button on the device to tick it off
• Drink water — a nudge at the interval you choose, and a running count against your own target
Four alarm sounds to choose from. Neither is a medical device: VELA keeps no health record and gives no dosing advice.

The app needs Bluetooth permission to connect to and configure your VELA.

What’s new

Lighter and quicker. VELA now uses noticeably less memory, starts faster, and the download is smaller. Nothing has moved — everything is where you left it.
