VelloDoc turns your phone into a document scanner, PDF editor and OCR tool, doing the scanning, editing and text recognition on the device itself. Nothing you scan is uploaded.

Six things send or fetch data, and VelloDoc asks before the two that cost you anything. Google Play services fetches an on-device model your phone lacks: seven of the nine prompts state a measured size first (the scanner is largest, about 32 MB; extra OCR languages 2-3 MB), and the two never seen downloading say so rather than guess. Translation fetches a language pack, about 30 MB each. The other four: importing a file from a web address you type; the search-bar microphone, which hands your request to your phone's own speech app - we never record or receive the audio, and ask that app to work offline, though it may ignore that; Report an issue, which opens your email app with a draft already containing your app version and device details, and send nothing until you press send - you can leave those out with a tick box, or delete them in the draft, and it never attaches a document or its text; and Google's ML Kit components, which report their own diagnostics to Google. No document, and no text read from one, is in any of them. Buttons that hand you to another app, like Rate VelloDoc or sharing a file, are that app's business.

REMINDERS
Passport, Medical, Tax, Invoice and Contract scans have their expiry and due dates read automatically and turned into reminders on your device, without asking first. See or delete them under Tools > Advanced Workflows > Expiry Reminders.

DEVICE COMPATIBILITY
VelloDoc runs on Android 7.0 and above. Smart Scan, Guided capture and Lens need a working rear camera; the app installs and every other tool works without one. Smart Scan, text recognition, barcode scanning, translation, object labelling and the face detection behind Passport Photo Maker come from Google Play services and need it present and current; without it those features are unavailable, while the other PDF, image and file tools carry on. Smart Scan also needs at least 1.7 GB of total RAM - Google's own limit for its scanner component, below which it reports unsupported; use Guided capture or Import from Gallery instead. Models and language packs need a connection whenever the files are not already on the phone: usually only the first time, but again if Play services clears them, or after an update, restore or app-data clear.
