Transparent Information About Data Permissions

VindBox is a modern storage application developed to enable you to manage your digital data securely and in a controlled manner. Our application requires certain permissions to function properly. We prioritize user privacy and clearly share the permissions we request and why.

📁 1. File and Media Permissions
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Purpose: Bulk backup and restore of photos, videos, documents, and other files.
Scope: Required for cloud backup, one of the application's core functions.
Usage: Activated only with user consent. Access is provided solely for backup purposes, in accordance with Google policies.

READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Purpose: Gallery and file access.
Scope: Allows the user to selectively back up or restore specific files.
Note: In Android 11 and later, this permission has been replaced by MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE.

READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO

Purpose: Provides the app with specific access to specific media types (photos, videos, audio).
Scope: Specific access to media types only.
Note: Required for Android 13 and later.

📇 2. Contacts Access
READ_CONTACTS, WRITE_CONTACTS

Purpose: Backing up and restoring contacts if desired.
Scope: Helps prevent data loss by storing your contacts in the cloud.
Usage: Used only with the user's explicit consent. Personal data is not shared with third parties.

📍 3. Location Information
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION

Purpose: Provide location information in the backup history (optional).
Scope: Precise or approximate location information is only activated when you use the relevant feature.
Note: Basic features of the app can be used without location permission.

📸 4. Camera and Microphone
CAMERA, RECORD_AUDIO

Purpose: Scan documents or record voice notes directly from within the app.
Scope: Camera and microphone use is only active during the current action.
Privacy: No recordings are stored without the device owner's permission.

🛜 5. Network and Notification Permissions
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE

Purpose: Cloud backup, updates, and communication.
Scope: Enables the app to connect with servers.
Security: All data transfers are encrypted.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Purpose: To send notifications to the user, such as backup status and restriction reminders.
Usage: For Android 13 and later devices, additional permission is required from the user.

📱 6. System-Level and Custom Permissions
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS (Usage Access)

Purpose: Can overlay specific apps (e.g., WhatsApp, Instagram) based on a timeframe for personal security and data leakage protection.
Scope: Used only with explicit permission from the user.
Security: User habits or app content are not tracked.

SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW

Purpose: Used for the on-screen control panel (e.g., app lock or notification block).
Scope: To attract the user's attention and enable quick action.
Warning: On Android devices, this permission is required manually from the user.

FOREGROUND_SERVICE

Purpose: To enable services such as app restrictions and data monitoring to run continuously in the background.
Scope: Continues the operation of planned functions without affecting system performance.

READ_PHONE_NUMBERS

Purpose: In some cases, identifying the user's phone number and matching it with the account.
Usage: The number is not read or shared without the user's consent.
