About this app

Optimize your WiFi network using WiFi Analyzer (open-source) by examining surrounding WiFi networks, measuring their signal strength as well as identifying crowded channels.

Users' privacy and security is a huge concern these days and WiFi Analyzer (open-source) is designed to use as few permissions as possible. It asks for just enough to perform the analysis. Plus, it is all open source so nothing is hidden! Most notably, this application does not require access to internet, so you can be sure it does not send any personal/device information to any other source and it does not receive any information from other sources.

Notes:
- Android 9 introduced Wi-Fi scan throttling. Android 10 has a new developer option to toggle the throttling off under (Settings > Developer Options > Networking > Wi-Fi scan throttling).
- Android 9.0+ requires location permission and location services to perform a WiFi scan.

Ratings and reviews

Even on Android 9, which has wifi throttling that can not be disabled, this app does an excellent job, provided you are a little patient. This app is a great public service, as good as or better than most of the for-profit stuff out there. Highly recommended as a way to figure out what wifi channels you should use/avoid, whether the "auto" setting on your router is being sensible in choosing wifi channels (often not), and troubleshooting interference issues.

Precisely what I needed- I was greeted with a useful onboarding message on how to disable Wifi throttling, and why device location was needed. The app also offers granular measurements, if you need details, with some graphs. And did I mention that there are no ads? Not a single one. (Shame that you have to type extra words to find this gem, as all manner of advertised junk with the sound turned on (!), will jump on you first otherwise.)

This was great... until my Pixel 2 upgraded to Android 9 OS. Now it cannot find networks; all I see is a "No Data" message, rendering the app useless. Keeping it installed in the hope that this will be fixed - as I said, this was a great app! Update: Thank you for the response to my review. I read the FAQ section you referred to once again. Location services are, and were, activated. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app and granted any permissions it requested. Still doesn't work. Yeah, your beta version works, clumsily. But other similar apps on Playstore work just fine under Android 9, which has been out for a while now. Blaming the OS for your problems at this point seems disingenuous. Uninstalled. Hope you eventually get around to dealing with the problem.
