One of the famous maulid works in the Islamic world is the maulid written by a great scholar and hadith expert, namely Imam Wajihuddin Abdurrahman bin Muhammad bin Umar bin Ali bin Yusuf bin Ahmad bin Umar ad-Diba'i asy-Syaibani al-Yamani az-Zabidi asy-Syafi'i.
He was born on 4 Muharram in 866 Hijriyah and died on Friday 12 Rajab 944 Hijriyah. He was a famous hadith scholar and had no equal during his lifetime. He taught the book Sahih Imam al-Bukhari more than 100 times. He achieved the degree of Hafizh in hadith science, namely someone who memorized 100,000 hadiths and their sanads. Every day he taught hadith from mosque to mosque.
Among his teachers were Imam al-Hafizh as-Sakhawi, Imam Ibnu Ziyad, Imam Jamaluddin Muhammad bin Ismail (Mufti Zabid), Imam al-Hafizh Thahir bin Husain al-Ahdal, and many more. Apart from that, he is also a leading historian.
Among the books he wrote are:
• Taisirul Wushul ila Jami'il Ushul min Haditsir Rasul — A book that collects hadiths quoted from the six main hadith books.
• Tamyizuth Thayyib minal Khabits mimma Yaduru 'ala Alsinatin Nas minal Hadith — A book that distinguishes authentic hadith from dha'if and maudhu' hadith.
• Qurratul 'Uyun fi Akhbaril Yemen al-Maimun — A book about the history of Yemen.
• Bughyatul Mustafid fi Akhbar Madinat Zabid — A book about the history of the city of Zabid.
• Fadha'il Ahlil Yemen — A book about the virtues of the Yemeni people.
