Note: v7.9.0 seems to have finally fixed a long running series of problems with crashes and articles spontaneously closing. The widget is still erratic, failing to update (even with the update button) and sometimes simply not loading any headlines. That and fixing the editorial board and the publisher, and you'll be good to go

Sorry for the ongoing crashes and widget issues on your Pixel 10 Pro. Version 7.7.0 includes stability fixes, so please update and test again. If issues persist, let us know whether they also occur on another device or via mobile web. You can also contact us directly at help@washpost.com for further support.

Once upon a time, I'd have given this app 4.5 stars, but everything has gone off the rails since February 2026. I'd complain inside the app, but it simply won't stay open; it fails within seconds of opening, if it opens at all. Android's error message said the app is incompatible with an Android program, but I don't remember what it said. Besides, I've got a Galaxy S25 Ultra that's 100% updated, so I assess that it's 100% WaPo's problem to figure out what's wrong with their app.

Imagine paying for a newspaper subscription, but the app won't actually hold an article open for more than 10 seconds before going back to the homepage, eventually leading to the app crashing. It's updated and all. Don't feel like I'm getting my subscription's worth. Plus, with them consistently changing who does the Seven in the morning, and always changing the music is just annoying. I come to you for news. Not different personalities in a podcast or funky transition music. I want the news.
