Your chain is probably due. Sorry.
WaxOn counts the kilometres since you last waxed or oiled your chain, then tells you before things start sounding expensive. Connect Strava and it adds your rides up on its own — no bike computer to squint at, no spreadsheet, no trying to remember whether that last dunk was before or after the wet week in March.
BIKE MAINTENANCE IS A TEAM SPORT
Share a bike with a six-character code or a QR scan, and that person sees its chains, its history and its reminders. They can log a wax, tick off a brake-pad check, or flag "shifting's gone weird" for you to find later. Handy if you have a mechanic, a partner, or a friend who helps keep your bike rolling smoothly.
Everything anyone does lands in the bike's timeline with their name on it. Revoke access whenever you like. And if someone's bikes are being noisy, mute them — you still see every symbol on their cards, it just stops buzzing.
WAX OR OIL, NO JUDGEMENT
This started because a group of us got curious about waxing our chains. Legs are a different story. We discovered the hard part isn't the wax, it's the remembering. The app has you covered.
Still want to use good old drip lube? The app tracks that too! Mark a chain as oiled and every counter, button and reminder changes to match, right down to its own degrease counter. Same app, different chemistry.
WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES
• Counts ride distance per chain, straight from Strava — or type it in by hand for bikes that aren't linked
• Tells you when wax or oil is due, ideally before it's overdue
• As many chains per bike as you run: one on the bike, the rest on the shelf, ready to go fast
• Service reminders for brake pads, tire wear, tubeless sealant, battery checks and degreasing
• Saves your waxes and lubes as presets, because a hot-melt and a wet lube do not last the same distance
• Flag a problem on any bike, resolve it when it's fixed
• A timeline per bike: every wax, degrease, check and flag, with who did it and at what distance
• Logged something by mistake? Remove it, and the counter it reset goes back where it was
• Kilometres or miles, your call. We won't judge (too much ;)
NOTIFICATIONS THAT PAY ATTENTION
WaxOn live tracks how fast you're getting through a chain's interval and schedules its warnings from that, so they arrive even with the app closed. Ride more and they move closer; take a week off and they slide out. Chains sitting on the shelf never alert.
