About this app

Nerfify is a parental control app that makes Spotify video-free on your child's device.

Spotify has no parental setting to turn off video — music videos and video podcasts autoplay next to the music. Nerfify gives parents that switch: install it on your child's phone, turn protection on, and Spotify goes back to being what you wanted for them — music and podcasts, without the screen time.

HOW IT WORKS (FOR PARENTS)

1. Install Nerfify on your child's device.
2. Set a 4-digit parent PIN — protection can't be turned off without it.
3. Turn protection on and accept the connection request the phone shows.
4. Open Spotify. Videos are gone; the music keeps playing.

Music tracks, albums, regular podcasts, and the Now Playing screen all keep working as normal.

For a set-and-forget setup, turn on Always-on VPN for Nerfify in Settings → Network & Internet → VPN on the child's device. Protection starts with the phone and stays on.

ONLY YOU HOLD THE KEY

The parent PIN is required to turn protection off or change what's blocked. Your child can see that Nerfify is running (a notification is always shown), but can't disable it.

WHY IT'S SAFE

Nothing leaves the device. Nerfify isn't a privacy VPN and there are no Nerfify servers handling your child's traffic. The app uses Android's local VPN feature only as an on-device filter for the few video addresses Spotify uses. DNS queries for everything else go to the same public resolvers the phone normally uses. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no data collection — from you or your child.

HEADS UP

Music videos and video podcasts won't play at all (their audio and video share the same stream). Plain music tracks and regular podcasts are unaffected.
