The specification allows for USB Type-C cables to be made with no need for extra dongles or converters, and allow compatible devices to output video directly from a USB-C device to a TV display. This means that smartphones, tablets, laptops, cameras, and any other devices with a USB-C port can be built to directly output video to any TV display with a single cable.

Alt Mode, which stands for Alternative Mode, allows non-USB signals to be carried through a USB-C cable. Other USB-C Alt Modes support DisplayPort, MHL, and Thunderbolt. USB-C devices that support these Alt Modes can then, with the correct USB-C cable, transfer those signals in addition to regular USB data.

this application works like a charm in the next thing I got my phone checked up for what I needed

I am currently connected to an external monitor on my phone with a Bluetooth keyboard writing this review. The app said my phone isn't compatible with USB-C video output which is kind of funny as I'm using my phone for USB-C video output right now.

This app is great! I thought as long as you have a type-c port it can automatically connect as hdmi. But turns out it's not available for my phone. Better get a samsung but the galaxy ones..
