A guide for pilgrims on the Vía de la Plata and the Camino Sanabrés from Seville to Santiago de Compostela.
This is the app version of the long-established Walking Guide to the Vía de la Plata by Gerald Kelly which has been published every year since 2012.
The Vía de la Plata is a unique Camino and different in several important ways from other more popular Caminos. Walking distances are longer, the track is often remote, accommodation and other facilities are often few and far between, on its southern section summers are hotter than on Caminos further north and, depending on the time of year you’re walking, there may be very few pilgrims.
At 1000km it is also longer than any of the better known Caminos.
Because this is a challenging Camino it’s important that the information in the guide be up-to-date and accurate and that the walking notes and advice about potential difficulties be written by someone who knows this Camino well and has extensive experience of walking it in all seasons.
The guide includes:
Route descriptions: distances between places with pilgrim hostels, descriptions of difficult points along the route.
Maps: interactive route maps showing the Vía in rural areas and in greater detail in cities and towns with the location of Pilgrim Hostels and other facilities.
Accommodation: up-to-date and accurate information about pilgrim hostels, the facilities provided and prices. Also, links to booking.com for hotels and guest houses.
Services: information about services (shops, tourist information, internet, etc.) plus the dates of local festivals.
Restaurants: the author's personal recommendations for places to eat.
Live updates: regularly updated information about which accommodation is currently open
Booking.com: direct links to each town and village along the Vía, allowing you to book ahead with ease
