About this app

Point your phone at the sky and it tells you where the Moon is — even when clouds, buildings or daylight hide it.

TWO WAYS TO FIND IT
• Compass — a dial that turns with you, with an arrow on the Moon. Turn until the arrow points straight up and you are facing it.
• AR view — hold the phone up and the Moon's direction is drawn over the camera image.

WHILE YOU TURN
The app tells you what to do in plain words: turn right 40°, look up high, look near the horizon. When the Moon is below the horizon it says so, instead of pointing you at the ground.

MOON INFORMATION
• The current phase, with a short description of what it means
• How much of the disc is lit, as a percentage
• Azimuth and altitude in degrees, for anyone who wants the numbers
• Moonrise and moonset times for today
• Distance from Earth, in kilometres or miles
• Where you are in the lunar cycle

CALCULATED, NOT DOWNLOADED
The Moon's position is computed on your device from the date, time and your coordinates. No lookup, no server, no waiting. The app itself makes no network requests.

SETTINGS
Metric or imperial units, 12- or 24-hour times, and a theme that follows the system by default — light and dark are also available.

PRIVACY
• Location is used only to work out where the Moon is in your sky; the app never sends it anywhere
• The camera is only used while you have the AR tab open
• No ads, no analytics, no accounts

LANGUAGES
Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.

AR view needs a device that supports ARCore. Everything else works without it. Requires Android 8.0 or later.

What’s new

- You can now choose Light, Dark, or System theme in Settings
- In dark mode, button labels, the compass "N" and small text are easier to read
- At large text sizes, the bottom tab labels no longer split in the middle of a word
