Read, annotate and rework PDFs on your phone — and keep the files on your phone.

READ AND ANNOTATE
• Pen, fountain pen, pencil, marker and brush, with an eraser
• Highlight, underline and strike through text
• Sticky notes, text boxes and shapes
• Sign with your finger and place the signature on the page
• Redact: black boxes on an exported copy, with the text under them deleted where possible. It doesn't cover every case (such as form fields, some images, rotated or cropped pages), so check the copy before sharing it

REWORK
• Merge several PDFs into one, or split one into several
• Extract selected pages
• Reorder pages, reverse a selection or add a blank page
• Compress to make a file small enough to send
• Crop and resize pages
• Add a watermark or page numbers
• Images to PDF, and PDF to images
• Extract the text of a document

OCR ON YOUR DEVICE
Read the text out of scans and photos in Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Devanagari scripts. The recognition models run on the phone.

SCAN
Use the camera to scan a document straight into a PDF, with edge detection.

PROTECT
Set a password on a document, or remove one you know. A strength meter tells you when a password is too short to be worth setting. Lock the app itself behind your fingerprint or face.

ORGANISE
A library with folders, tags, search, sort and a trash you can restore from. Start a new blank note on plain, lined, grid, dotted, Cornell or music-staff paper.

QUICK ACCESS
A quick settings tile opens the app straight to what you use most.

ABOUT PRIVACY, PRECISELY
Your documents stay on your device. The app has no account, no sign-in and no backend of its own, and it never uploads a file. Scanning and OCR use Google's ML Kit, which runs its models on the device but also ships Google's own telemetry component — so this app is not free of third-party code, and we would rather say so than claim otherwise. There are no ads.

LANGUAGES
Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish and Turkish.

Requires Android 8.0 or later.

What’s new

- Reorder pages, reverse a selection, add a blank page, or drag pages into place, right on the pages screen.
- Rotate icons now point the right way in right-to-left languages.
- Leaving the pages or annotate screen with unsaved changes now asks whether to save, leave without saving, or cancel.
- Erased annotations are now fully removed when you save.
- Saving and opening problems are shown on screen instead of closing the app.
