How good is the tap water at your home – and can you use it to prepare your baby's bottle?
The app analyzes the drinking water analyses published by your local water supplier, shows you the nitrate and sodium levels, and explains what these numbers mean in easy-to-understand language. No technical jargon, no scare tactics.
Why nitrate and sodium in particular?
For adults, both values are within legal limits. However, stricter recommendations apply to infants – especially when preparing formula with tap water. The app places your value within these recommendations and clearly tells you whether and what action is required.
Based on the latest research
The assessments are based on the published recommendations of the relevant authorities and also take into account current scientific studies – such as the finding that it makes a difference where the nitrate comes from: vegetables, processed meat, or drinking water. All sources can be found in the app.
Free for your location
The values for the location where you install the app – usually your home – are permanently free. No registration, no hidden costs.
The app offers:
• Nitrate and sodium levels for your location
• Classification based on current limit and recommendation values
• Clear explanations of both parameters
• Practical tips for preparing infant formula and baby food
• Background information on drinking water, pregnancy, and nutrition
• Answers to common misconceptions – for example: Boiling does not remove nitrate
• Why nitrate-rich vegetables like spinach are probably not a problem for your child
Coming soon
Additional locations can be unlocked in the future – useful for vacations or visits to family and grandparents. Available via subscription or one-time payment. Also planned: a nitrate and sodium calculator that determines the actual daily intake based on age and body weight.
Who is it for?
For parents of infants, pregnant women, and anyone planning a child who wants to know the nitrate levels in their tap water.
Good to know:
Tap water in Europe is among the most rigorously controlled food products. In most regions, the water quality is also perfectly suitable for preparing infant formula. This app helps you assess whether this applies to your tap water.
