Good Night — a nighttime instrument that turns your own sounds into an endless sound collage.
Instruments, city recordings, voice. From the sources you load, it generates a drone (sustained sound) where fragments drift with gaps and overlaps. There is no fixed tempo or beat, and it never sounds quite the same twice — yet you design *how* it happens with the knobs and fix it with a SEED. Hands-off in feel, but reproducible on purpose. That is the heart of Good Night.
■ The sound
- INST1 / INST2: two source decks. INST1 auto-removes drums, leaving a lead+bass drone bed and setting the overall key. INST2 fragments are auto-tuned toward that key for consonance.
- VOICE: fragments the voice into murmurs. A "language collapse (LANG)" mode melts words toward neutral vowels.
- NOISE: a layer of ambient noise that ebbs and flows with the level.
■ Sound design (inspired by Octatrack / Monomachine)
- GRANULAR: a light grain layer with pitch shimmer, band selection and breathing.
- RING MOD: ring modulation that tears the original, with slow long-period modulation so the timbre morphs over time.
- MOTION: automation that keeps drifting a chosen parameter (plus TRIG to jump now).
- RESAMPLE: sample your own live output on the fly and throw it back into the material.
- EFFECTS: dial the rate and depth of reverse / skip / delay / dub / cross-synthesis and more.
■ Ableton Link (tempo sync with other gear)
Send the drone's sounding "effective tempo" to the session. This app becomes the leader, nudging other apps and hardware on the same Wi-Fi (Ableton Live, sequencers…) into a free, fluctuating tempo — an un-metered drone that holds the pulse of the ensemble.
■ More
- LIVE: streaming playback. Knobs apply gradually without ever stopping the sound (no-dropout first), with a countdown to when each change takes effect.
- GENERATE: render the full length offline and export to WAV.
- REC: field-record and add to your sources.
- Timer (3 / 15 / 60 min) auto-stops.
Designed to favor darkness, space and conceptual depth over conventional pleasantness.
Sleep tracking has been removed; the app is now focused purely as an instrument for making sound. New: Ableton Link, granular, ring modulation, automation and live resampling. The UI has been rebuilt around a mixer, level meters and knob controls.
