About this app

Education can be fun and enjoyable. The app shows you how to get there. The seven units of the app offer reflection tasks, parenting tips and in-depth impulses for everyday parenting. Experienced educators and psychologists from educational counseling and family education have developed the app and invite you to trace the individual impulses and implement the individual suggestions in everyday family life.
The topics:
1. Where everything is rooted - The basic needs of children and parents
2. Encourage the child – focus on strengths
3. Understand the language of the child - recognize children's messages
4. Let the child become independent - between caring and letting go
5. Be strong in arguments - the "ZIPP method" helps
6. Consistently promote life skills - without scolding and threats
7. ... and take care of yourself - discover your "recharge stations".

The thinking behind it
"Relaxed parenting" succeeds through an appreciative attitude. Parents and children work together to ensure a good, cooperative family atmosphere, agree on rules and resolve conflicts in such a way that no one gets left out. Encouraging behavior on the part of fathers and mothers looks at the child's strengths. A socially oriented attitude takes into account the child's basic needs for belonging, participation, meaning, security and love; but also respects the needs of parents. All in all, parenting does not work stubbornly according to textbooks, but responds to the possibilities and goals of parents and children in a situation-oriented manner.

functions
The app has numerous interactive elements that invite families to reflect and shape their own family life. Videos and photos outline "cheeky" solutions to everyday conflicts. Important insights, resolutions and things worth thinking about can be collected in a “treasure chest”. It is possible to be reminded of this by a push message.

Kess-educate courses
The APP is based on the attitude and the approach of "Kess-educate", which is offered nationwide. The course concept looks primarily at the "how" of togetherness and thus focuses on the quality of the relationship between those responsible for bringing up children and young people. The course concept on which the APP is based in terms of content, “Less stress. More joy.” comprises five units. It conveys important thoughts and impulses for everyday child-rearing, which sustainably increase the parenting skills and problem-solving skills of mothers and fathers of 3-11 year olds. In the meantime, eight different "Kess-Education" parenting course formats are offered; just as many further education and training formats for educators, teachers and other persons responsible for education: www.kess-ermachen.de

Pedagogical-Psychological Background
With "kess-educate" an attitude is strengthened that makes living together easier.
• k for cooperative: Shaping family life together
• e like encouraging: look at strengths and build on them
• s like social: Keep an eye on the basic social needs of everyone
• s like situation-oriented: Act in a way that suits you, the child and the situation.

The goals: strong parents; treating each other with respect; independent and fun-loving children and young people; skillful handling of conflicts; don't avoid questions of meaning; togetherness that is fun!

The pedagogical approach is based on Alfred Adler's individual psychology and its application to education by Rudolf Dreikurs. In addition, the findings of resilience research, the approach of salutogenesis, attachment theory, aspects of communication theory such as children's philosophy, children's theology and logotherapy flow into the various concepts.

Development and program update are the responsibility of the "Kess-ermachen-Institute for personal pedagogy" sponsored by the "AKF - Arbeitsgemeinschaft für kath. Family Education e.V., Bonn".
