About this app

Access is granted via an invitation code from your organization.

echoBOS is not a freely available app. It is exclusively for members of organizations that already use echoBOS: fire departments, THW (Federal Agency for Technical Relief) local chapters, and aid organizations such as the German Red Cross (DRK), Johanniter, Malteser, ASB (Workers' Samaritan Federation), or DLRG (German Life Saving Association). There is no open registration. You redeem your organization's invitation code once in the app, and your device remains logged in afterward. There are no in-app purchases; your organization provides access.

Within the organization, everything is structured according to departments, groups, and permissions, so everyone sees exactly what is relevant to them. Departments reflect the existing structure, from the first platoon and the youth fire brigade to the senior and honorary members. Specialized groups such as breathing apparatus, high-angle rescue, or pump operators are located outside of this structure, and multiple memberships are possible.

For fire chiefs and local chapter leaders:

You schedule an event, define the target group (everyone, individual departments, groups, or people), set a response deadline, and see who has confirmed their attendance before the exercise. If something is canceled, cancel it with a reason; the cancellation will be displayed on the appointment and sent as a push notification, unless the recipient has disabled this feature. You decide who can create appointments, approve reservations, or process issues on a per-person basis, and you can adjust this at any time. No one has to share their private phone number for the chat.

For Equipment Maintenance

Record any defects in vehicles, equipment, PPE, buildings, or radio and IT systems directly on-site with a photo, priority, and responsible person. Also, note whether the equipment is fully operational, has limited functionality, or is out of service. Safety-related reports require a mandatory "Immediate Action" field. Follow-up questions are added as comments to the report, and every status change is recorded in the history.

For Rooms, Equipment, and Vehicles

Whoever is responsible for a resource receives reservation requests for approval: requested, approved, rejected, or canceled. The system prevents double bookings, and every change remains traceable.
... For record keeping

Service attendance per member is available as statistics, serving as the basis for awards and the annual report, instead of being reconstructed from scraps of paper at the end of the year. Service instructions, minutes, and forms are stored in the file repository in folders of any depth, visible organization-wide or only to a specific department or group. Scheduling meetings is done via polls with date selection, anonymously if desired, with single or multiple choices.

For every member

One overview instead of scattered chat groups: only the appointments scheduled for you. RSVP with a single tap, answer the meal request at the same time, and add the appointment to your mobile phone calendar. Photos, videos, and documents are attached to the appointment itself. In addition, there's real-time chat with direct messages and groups, with replies to individual messages, emoji reactions, and pinned posts. What's read on your mobile phone is also considered read on your tablet. Each appointment also has its own dedicated chat. Push notifications can be disabled for each area.

Data and Operation

Appointments, members, files, and messages are stored on servers in Germany, and the system operates in accordance with the GDPR. Each organization only sees its own data. There is no advertising or tracking for advertising purposes. The app runs on smartphones and tablets, and the interface is in German.

What echoBOS is not

echoBOS is not an incident management system: it does not use alerts, pagers, or connections to control centers, and it does not generate incident reports or logs. echoBOS does not manage medical examinations, respiratory protection fitness certificates, training qualifications, or driver's license expiration dates.
