Have you ever wondered what stories are hidden in the streets, houses, and squares of your city? We believe that places are more than just points on a map. They carry memories, stories, and traces of what was and what has become of them today. ferthe anchors art, culture, and history where they actually took place or originated.
The focus is on people, their work, and the specific location. In a time when digital content is becoming increasingly locationless, ferthe makes culture and history tangible where the city gate once stood, where a podcast is set, or where the street in a historical photograph still runs today.
Museums, podcasters, photographers, and media professionals anchor their work as "spots" in the city. Each spot is a uniquely designed map that links back to the work and the people behind it. Some spots are directly on the map, while others only appear when you're nearby.
Connected spots become trails: themed paths with their own map design. The map itself is a work of art; a historical trail uses a historical map design, a street art trail an artistic representation. No Google Maps look, no mass of points of interest, but rather a framework that sparks curiosity.
ferthe is an independent project from Münster. It is not financially or conceptually affiliated with any institution. Münster is not just any starting point: a city with a history spanning from the Peace of Westphalia to the present day, a vibrant cultural scene, and compact enough to be explored on foot and by bicycle.
