About this app

The machine-readable zone of a passport document is produced by the ICAO standard. It generates from the personal data of the visibility zone.

The ID Card Checker will help you to evaluate the machine-readable zone of the identity card for accuracy.

Please note:
This app is not intended for use by government agencies of any kind. This means authorities at federal, state and municipal level as well as local authorities.

The pro-version of the ID Card Checker contains no advertising and requires no permissions.

In the pro-version you have 2 modes:

Normal mode: The ID Card Checker calculates from the data of the birth date and the expiration date the correct check digits and proofs them for accuracy.

Expert mode: You can check the completely machine-readable zone (such as serial number, date of birth, expiration date, personal number and total check id) on its correctness. Activate this feature in settings.

It also provides an overview of the digits of the used OCR-B font, including counter-examples. This template gives you the opportunity to compare the present number with the OCR-B font.

The app shows examples of fake identity documents with a incorrect machine-readable zone.

The ID Card Checker is available in over 190 countries to proof identity documents.

This app is a dissapointment. it cannot actually discover fakes because it is based upon digits check in MRZ. That means it checks compatibility of the data given in an ID card with the digits in the MRZ. Anyone who counterfeits ID cards or their copies would take care of this. So, majority of the fakes will appear as valid. However, the app cannot distinguish the stolen (invalid) cards from the new ones issued as a replacement and that is the major disadvantage of this and other similar apps.

Doesn't work on Romanian ID card or poor instructions. Also emailed in regards to the matter. I'm happy to change my review if we can find a solution.

I was looking for something that could scan ID cards to verify and age and validity in a bar and restaurant setting.
