The BR-Kodierhilfe includes a knowledge base with criteria and instructions for coding that the information from the German Institute of Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI) and the information from the ICD-10-GM supplement. In more than 70 research groups and 230 meetings a knowledge base to over 12,500 ICD-10 codes, with the support of many doctors has consented to this day.

The BR-Kodierhilfe offers a variety of ways to find the right code to disease. In the search box, terms can be entered, which lead to a list of all matching ICD-10 codes. The search can be restricted to specific sources, such as the knowledge base of Zi. By clicking on the matching row of the consented to this code criteria and notes are displayed. Thus, the appropriate encoding can be identified by the indicated criteria.
