About this app

The SIGNAL IDUNA electronic patient file (ePA) is a digital file in which all your health documents can be found. These include, for example:
- Doctor's letters
- Diagnoses
- Laboratory results
- Hospital reports
- Emergency data
- the digital vaccination certificate
- Medication schedules
- the maternity passport
- the U-booklet for children

Who can use the SIGNAL IDUNA ePA?

Anyone who has taken out private health insurance or supplementary insurance with SIGNAL IDUNA and is a policyholder, i.e. contract holder, can use the SI ePA app.

Co-insured persons, such as: Unfortunately, other people, such as spouses or children, cannot currently use the SIGNAL IDUNA ePA.

What can the ePA do?
In addition to the document overview, you can:
- Upload, download and delete documents (either yourself or through your doctors),
- set which practices and facilities are allowed to access which documents,
- determine the confidentiality of your documents in order to protect particularly private documents,
- create family members or other trusted people as representatives or take over the representation of another person's patient file yourself,
- track all activity in your ePA,
- Take data from your previous patient file with you if you switch to SIGNAL IDUNA.

What are the advantages of the ePA?
- Never lose documents again:
Vaccination certificate, emergency data, medication plan - everything becomes digital and you have everything with you anytime, anywhere.

- Improved care:
If you allow it, your doctor will see your entire health history: duplicate examinations and incorrect treatment are avoided.

- Time saving:
All health documents at your fingertips in one app - without the hassle of searching for documents from different doctors

Who can access my data?

With your smartphone and the SI ePA app, initially only you have access to your data.
Without your consent, no one can view your data - not even us as your private health insurance company.

Who is allowed to access your ePA and the documents it contains is up to you: you can assign permissions and determine who can view information and who can upload documents. You can set a confidentiality level for each document in your ePA and thus, for example, particularly restrict access to documents that are very private to you. For example, you can set that your family doctor can access all documents and upload documents for an indefinite period of time; Your dentist, on the other hand, only gets reading access for a limited period of time and only to selected documents.

How safe is my data?
The ePA is subject to strict legal and data protection regulations, which are set out, for example, in the Patient Data Protection Act (PDSG). It is subject to continuous certification processes.
The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) regularly checks that communication via your ePA is really secure and that your sensitive information is protected. The technical encryption procedures required for this are always adapted to the latest developments.
