About this app

Aves can handle all sorts of images and videos, including your typical JPEGs and MP4s, but also more exotic things like multi-page TIFFs, SVGs, old AVIs and more!

It scans your media collection to identify motion photos, panoramas (aka photo spheres), 360° videos, as well as GeoTIFF files.

Navigation and search is an important part of Aves. The goal is for users to easily flow from albums to photos to tags to maps, etc.

Aves integrates with Android (from KitKat to Android 14, including Android TV) with features such as app shortcuts and global search handling. It also works as a media viewer and picker.

Haven't used it much so far, but it's pretty good, better then the default gallery. Only thing holding it back from a 5 for me is that I can't see folders inside folders, and that sort order for viewing is applied to all folders and not individual ones. Another qol addition would be having a similar image preview within images, to navigate an album easier, as gallery. if these already exist, or if they're added, I'll find them and change my score. Edit: thanks for the help!

Regarding folders within folders, maybe you'll be interested in the Explorer page, or making groups in the Albums page. Regarding preview within images, maybe you mean Settings > Viewer > Overlay > Show thumbnails.

Nice layout! love how the app handles and how nice it does sorting, one feature I would like is the ability to sort by modification date rather than creation date, cause sometimes I'll download a photo to share, and it ends up near the bottom of my downloads folder. I would also love an automatic tagging system that scans context of photos, similar to how Samsung gallery works. Overall I am pleased with this app.

Been looking for an app that makes tagging and rating photos quicker and easier. At first the options to tag and rate took a few clicks to get to. then I found that the quick select icons are customizable. now I can get to tagging and rating with one click on a single photo or when selecting multiple. The tagging menu shows recently used tags as well as popular tags so what I use most is readily available to select. I love that this is an open source project that I can request features to.

Glad you enjoy the app. For even quicker rating/tagging, you can also long press on the quick action buttons you added.
