About this app

Eavesdrop turns speech from your phone’s microphone into text as it happens. Tap Record, follow the words on screen, then save a transcript to search, edit, or share later.

Use it for meetings, voice notes, lectures, interviews, and in-person conversations.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Eavesdrop does not save audio recordings or upload your speech or transcript text to a transcription server. Saved transcripts and drafts stay in the app’s private storage on your phone. They are sent to another app only when you choose to share or export them. No account or sign-in is required.

Eavesdrop does not provide cloud backup or restore. Export transcripts you want to keep before uninstalling.

You can turn off anonymous usage statistics in Settings. Limited diagnostic error reports may still be sent to help fix problems.

LANGUAGE AND DEVICE REQUIREMENTS
The app interface is currently in English. Available transcription languages depend on your phone’s on-device speech recogniser.

On Android, transcription requires Android 12 or later, a compatible on-device recogniser, and an installed speech model for your chosen language. You may need internet access to obtain a model before use. Once it is available, transcription works offline. Speed and accuracy vary by device and language.

Keep Eavesdrop open while transcribing. It captures microphone input, not the audio of an active phone call. Saved transcripts contain text, not replayable audio.
