About this app

Storyteller is a self-hosted platform for creating and reading ebooks with synced narration. It's made of of three components: the API server, the web interface, and the mobile apps. Together, these components allow you to take audiobooks and ebooks that you already own and automatically synchronize them, as well as read or listen to (or both!) the resulting synced books.

Storyteller provides two relatively unique use cases:

- Providing a better experience for readers that wish to be able to switch between listening to a book in audiobook format and reading it as a digital, visual book
- Providing a guided narration experience for users that would like to listen to a book's narration while reading it.

Storyteller is also self-hosted software. This means that instead of running on servers owned by a company or other organization, it runs on your servers. You own your content and your data, and it will always be available to you!

Best app for reading self-hosted books on mobile. No ads, no distractions, just an excellent reading experience. It has a clean, minimal interface that is easy to tweak to your preferences and start reading. Love this app!

idk what's causing this but when downloading readaloud from the server it keeps restarting the progress in a way that its impossible to download a larger file. I ended up transferring the file from my pc into my phone and using a third party app which isn't as good. also this didn't happene when downloading audio and epub separately

I have a pretty good experience with the app. I do miss a play history feature that keeps track of when I started and stopped playing audio (see Smart Audiobook Player here on Android) for those times I inadvertently started playback or forgot to stop it. Another great feature could be reading/listening position sync between devices.

What’s new

- Fixes a bug that could cause very long delays when opening a book while not connected to the server
