About this app

NTFS Reader is a USB drive file manager for Android. Read NTFS-formatted external hard drives, SSDs and USB flash drives, and fully read AND write exFAT and FAT32 USB drives and portable SSDs, directly on your phone or tablet. Plug in through a USB-C or USB-OTG adapter and browse your files. No root. No computer. No account. No ads.

Windows formats most external drives and large USB sticks as NTFS, while cameras, drones, SD cards and portable SSDs use exFAT or FAT32, and Android can't reliably open any of them on its own. NTFS Reader fixes that with its own NTFS, exFAT and FAT32 filesystem engines and its own USB storage stack, on a wide range of drives, OTG adapters and card readers, without rooting your device.

WORKS WITH
• NTFS external hard drives, SSDs and USB flash drives (read)
• exFAT USB drives and portable SSDs (read + write)
• FAT32 USB drives, flash drives and SD cards in a reader (read + write)
• SD cards and microSD through a USB card reader (read + write on exFAT and FAT32)
• BitLocker To Go encrypted USB drives: read when NTFS inside, full read + write when exFAT or FAT32 inside
• Multi-partition drives and drives larger than 2 TB
• USB-C phones and tablets, and USB-OTG adapters
• Your phone's own storage too: internal storage and a built-in SD card (browse, copy, move, rename, delete)
Note: the app reads USB / OTG storage; a drive or card reader plugs into your phone. To manage the phone's own built-in SD-card slot, use Android's built-in file manager (All files access).

WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Browse every folder like a normal file manager / file explorer
• Copy files and folders from the drive to your phone, with progress, transfer rate and time-remaining (and Cancel)
• Preview without copying: photos (pinch-to-zoom and swipe), music and video, straight off the drive
• Open any file in another app with "Open with…", or Share it straight from the drive
• Search within a folder, and sort by name, size or date
• See folder details: item counts and size on disk
• Show or hide hidden and system files
• Pick files straight off the drive in other apps through Android's system file picker

WRITE TO exFAT AND FAT32 DRIVES, FREE
exFAT and FAT32 are full read AND write, even in this free app: create folders, rename, move, delete, and copy or upload files onto an exFAT or FAT32 drive, SSD or SD card, directly from your phone. Writes are crash-safe: a mid-write disconnect leaves the drive recoverable, never silently corrupted.

UNLOCK BITLOCKER DRIVES
Got a drive Windows encrypted with BitLocker To Go? Unlock it on your phone with the password or 48-digit recovery key and browse it like any other drive, no Windows PC needed. It opens whatever is inside the encryption: NTFS, exFAT or FAT32. When the inside is exFAT or FAT32 you get full read AND write, free, just like an unencrypted drive; NTFS-formatted BitLocker drives are read-only here (to write those, see NTFS Reader Pro).

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No ads. No trackers. No analytics. No accounts. NTFS Reader collects no personal data; your files and file names never leave your device. See the in-app Privacy Policy & ToS (in the menu).

SAFE
exFAT and FAT32 writes are crash-safe (including inside BitLocker); NTFS and NTFS-backed BitLocker drives open read-only. Eject cleanly from the menu; disconnects are handled gracefully.

NEED TO WRITE TO AN NTFS DRIVE?
This free app reads NTFS drives, and reads and writes exFAT and FAT32 drives (including exFAT/FAT32 volumes locked with BitLocker), but it doesn't write to NTFS or NTFS-backed BitLocker drives. To do that from your phone, check out NTFS Reader Pro.

What’s new

• NEW: full FAT32 read & write, just like exFAT (free)
• BitLocker To Go now opens exFAT- and FAT32-formatted drives too
• More reliable multi-volume BitLocker unlock and mixed-drive partition list
• Smoother eject/reconnect, clearer "safe to remove"
• Faster transfers, mounting and startup
• Various fixes and stability improvements
