What did Ludvig Holberg?
Holberg Dictionary is a historic dictionary covering Ludvig Holberg's works and thus an essential part of the Enlightenment Danish language.
The dictionary contains 35,000 entries and and thus represents almost all words from Ludvig Holberg known comedies and other diverse authorship. The dictionary is an invaluable aid to the reading of the author's works. At the same time describes the dictionary of the Danish language in the Enlightenment, the society and the world perception changed dramatically.
Most words and meanings are illustrated with full significance information and quotes from Holberg's works.
Holberg Dictionary is part of ordnet.dk and published by the Danish Language and Literature (DSL), which has more than 100 years of experience in publishing dictionaries and is behind the largest Danish native language dictionaries. The project is funded by the Carlsberg Foundation.
The dictionary is published also in the project Ludvig Holberg's writings, there is a collaboration between the University of Bergen and the Danish Language and Literature. Project Websites: holbergsskrifter.dk - holbergsskrifter.no.
