Shunt Display turns your phone or tablet into a live battery monitor for a Victron SmartShunt or BMV-712 Smart. Mount a spare phone in the van, boat, caravan or off-grid cabin and see your battery at a glance, without opening VictronConnect.
The app reads the shunt's Instant Readout Bluetooth broadcasts. There's no pairing and no connection to hold open, so it works alongside VictronConnect, a GX device or a second display at the same time.
WHAT YOU SEE
• A live power-flow picture: charger, battery and loads, with moving dots showing which way the power is going
• State of charge, big and colour-coded, with a charge bar
• Time left while discharging, or Charging / Full while charging
• Voltage, current, power and consumed amp hours
• The aux input: starter battery voltage, midpoint voltage or temperature
• Signal strength, and how long ago the last reading arrived
• Optional: add a Victron Blue Smart IP22, SmartSolar MPPT or Orion XS charger to see its output and charge stage, and what your loads use while charging
AT A GLANCE
• Current and power turn green while charging and amber while discharging
• State of charge turns amber and red below levels you choose
• Alarms are shown by name: Low voltage, High temperature, Low SOC and more
• Values turn grey if the signal drops, so old numbers never look live
MADE FOR A DEDICATED DISPLAY
• Full screen: hides the status and navigation bars and uses the space around a notch
• Portrait and landscape layouts, with the orientation lockable
• Optional keep-awake, so the screen stays on while the app is open
• Dark and light themes, or follow your phone's setting
• Works on phones and tablets
• In 45 languages, with a language setting of its own
EASY SETUP
• Find nearby lists the battery monitors in range by model and signal strength. Tap yours and the MAC address is filled in.
• Copy the encryption key in VictronConnect and switch back: the app spots it on the clipboard and offers to use it.
• Demo mode shows moving sample readings, so you can try the app before you have a shunt nearby.
WORKS WITH THE ARDUINO DISPLAY
If you've built the Arduino SmartShunt display, export your settings as a CONFIG.TXT for its SD card, or import one from it.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account, no ads, no analytics and no internet access
• Your key and settings stay on your phone
• The Bluetooth scan is filtered to your shunt and never used to work out your location
• Scanning stops as soon as you leave the app, to save battery
BEFORE YOU START
In VictronConnect, open your SmartShunt, tap the settings cog, then the three-dot menu, then Product info. Turn on "Instant readout via Bluetooth" and tap Show to see the MAC address and encryption key.
