TranSACT is a travel and activity tracking app developed by researchers at Georgia Tech to better understand how people move through cities and how transportation choices affect health and the environment.
The app helps you track your daily trips, explore alternative travel options, and view insights about your travel behavior. By using TranSACT, you contribute to research aimed at designing healthier, more sustainable transportation systems.
During participation, GT TranSACT continuously collects precise location information throughout the approximately three-month study, including when the app is closed, running in the background, or not actively being used. Continuous background location is required to identify daily trips and measure travel behavior accurately.
Android displays a persistent notification while location tracking is active.
Key Features

Research Participation
TranSACT is currently used as part of a research study conducted by Georgia Tech. Some features may be available only to participants enrolled in the study.
GT TranSACT is intended for eligible adults who have consented to participate in a Georgia Tech research study. Continuous location sharing is a requirement of study participation.
Participants may leave the study and stop future location collection at any time by selecting Leave Study and Delete Account from the app’s Profile screen. This option directs participants to the account and data deletion request process.
Privacy
Location, trip, account, and app-usage information is collected for approved academic research purposes and handled according to the study consent form, Georgia Tech research requirements, and the app privacy policy. De-identified information may be retained or shared for approved future research as described in the consent form.
