Understanding them better is part of caring for them.
Amaeru is a free app for dogs and cats that combines a pet food scanner, food diary and everyday wellness tracking. It helps you understand what you are putting in the bowl and keep track of how your pet is doing over time.
SCAN BARCODES OR LABELS
Scan the barcode of a product already in the catalogue, or photograph its packaging and composition label. Amaeru organises the available ingredients and nutritional information and compares them with each pet’s profile.
It can highlight:
• allergies and intolerances you have recorded;
• ingredients previously associated with problems or signs in the diary;
• compatibility with the pet’s species and life stage;
• recorded conditions and nutritional information that may need attention.
Each pet receives a separate assessment. The same food may deserve different attention for a dog, a cat or two animals with different profiles.
CONNECT WHAT THEY EAT TO HOW THEY FEEL
Record meals, amounts, appetite and preference. Add drinking water, stool using the Bristol Stool Scale, vomiting, symptoms, weight and body condition.
Amaeru keeps everything in chronological order and provides summaries, weekly trends and correlations between ingredients and recorded events. Correlations can help you ask better questions, but do not prove that one event caused another.

PREPARE A CLEARER HISTORY FOR YOUR VET
Select a period and review the timeline, charts, meals, symptoms, weight and care. The Vet Report collects this information in a PDF you can save or share.
FREE, WITH NO SUBSCRIPTION
All everyday Amaeru features are free. The only optional purchase is the Vet Report Pass, which lets you generate and download unlimited PDF reports for seven days.
It is a one-time purchase with no automatic renewal. Purchase it again only when you need another reporting period.
A TRUE STORY
Amaeru was created for Connie, the founder’s cat. When she experienced digestive problems, it was difficult to remember exactly what she had eaten, how much she had eaten and what had changed. Amaeru grew from that need: turning small everyday events into a story you can find again.
The name comes from the Japanese verb 甘える: to rely on someone’s kindness and allow yourself to be cared for.
Amaeru organises and compares the available information. It does not guarantee that a food is safe, identify every potentially harmful substance, provide a diagnosis or replace professional veterinary care.
For those who rely on you.
